Walking to School

November 26, 2008
By Olunike Ogunbodede, Carpentersville, IL

My mom held my hands as we crossed the street.
A butterfly dances around us.
I dont want to go to school I want to stay here forever...with her. But sh says school is important. When am i ever going to need to multiply? I feel my feet start to shuffle slowly on the pavement. She looks down smiling, she knows and she slows down, too, and we both laugh.
