Buddy
Year 1
He is my best friend. I see him every day of the week except Sunday because that is his Baseball day. He’s always chipper and bright and a total goof ball, just like me. We have so much in common. I am a dork, to be quite honest, but I somehow made it into the popular crowd.
Year 2&3
We are still the same, best buds.
Year 4
He is changing a lot he’s quieter and hangs with a whole new crowd. The stoners. Yup, the kids smoking weed, doing drugs(other drugs), and a whole lot of other stuff. I ask him “Are you doing it too?” worried.
“What?” he replies.
“Weed,” I say.
“No,” he states firmly. I press on and soon find out the truth. It hurts, so now I watch his every move. Then I get real close to him since we are best friends. Then I wean him off, slowly with little tricks and such. He’s clean.
Year 5
I ask him if he is clean. He says yes, but only because he needed to be clean for football.
Oh, well. At least my buddy is off.
