Chapter 1

At first glance my family would seem like the perfect family, perfect mother, devoted father and wonderful daughter but oh you couldn’t be more wrong. When I was six my mom left, all I remember is hearing my mom yelling at my dad who was telling her to be quite so I wouldn’t hear them arguing, she came bursting through their bedroom door with two suit cases yelling and swearing, then she just left, she took the car and left I didn’t really understand why my mom would just leave me at that time and I still don’t. After my mom left my dad had to quit his job as an engineer so he could take care of me, we had to move into a trailer park and my dad was trying his hardest to pay the bills when I tried to get good grades with as much help as my dad could provide. We had been living in the trailer park for a year when I decided to go play on the play ground that was in the center of all the trailers for the kids to play on, at that time I didn’t have any friends no one wanted to be friends with the poor girl living in a tailor park no one even really talked to me. I decided to go play on the swings they were always my favourite, after 10 mints when I heard someone walk up behind me but I thought nothing of it I wasn’t even sure I heard anything,
“Ummm do you care if I swing with you?” Brandon asked
“Huh? Oh no I don’t care” I said looking at the boy standing behind the swing beside me he was the same height as me with brown hair up to about his shoulder and golden hazel eyes.
“So umm do you want to be friends?” Brandon asked sitting on the swing
“Ok” I said smiling. We played together the whole day, we didn’t even notice when it got dark
“Kylee time to come in! Dinner’s ready” Mark yelled
“Ok, I’m coming dad!” I yelled back sliding back down the slide “I guess I have to go can you come out tomorrow?” I asked wondering if he really wanted to be firends.
“Ya just come knock on my door I live over there” Brandon said pointing to the traitor across from them
“Ok I’ll see you tomorrow” I said smiling and running home
“Bye” Brandon whispered to himself.
“Who were you playing with?” Mark asked looking at his clearly tired daughter
“His name is Brandon and he lives in the trailer across from us” I said yawning
“Oh ok well you head off to bed honey” Mark said relived that his daughter got a friend and forgetting about dinner
“Ok dad see you in the morning “I said staggering off to my room. I slept really well that night I had a friend my first friend since we moved and he was a neighbour which was even better. The whole weekend I played with Brandon and I found out that we even go to the same school.
“So I’ll see you tomorrow morning at the bus stop?” I asked
“Yup I’ll be waiting” Brandon smiled “good night”
“Good night” I said.

Me and Brandon became best friends almost instantly, within a year we were inseparable, we were even in the same class for grade three and sat next to each other but the popular girls Jenna, Nicky and Kim were in that class too so we got made fun of a lot me more than Brandon they kept saying that we were dating and we kissed all the time before and after school, I told them that we were just friends and to stop telling everyone we were boyfriend and girlfriend because it’s not true, they just laughed at me and walked away. That whole year they made fun of me, teasing me and spreading roamers about me I didn’t understand why and it made me cry, my dad said they were jealous because a boy wanted to be friends with me and not them I knew he was lying but for some reason it made me feel better anyway.
“Are they still bugging you?” Brandon asked one day seeing the sadness on Kylee’s face
“Ya, they said it’s pretty sad when I only have one friend and that I was a real loser” I said sadly looking at Brandon not wanting him to see me cry
“That’s not true and you know it, I mean what about Cassandra, Laura, Tara and Bella” Brandon said
“Ya I know but it still makes me sad because they’re not going to stop, I don’t know what to do Brandon and Cassandra, Tara, Bella and Laura aren’t even really my friends” I said wiping the tears from my eyes and covering my face
“It’s ok because I’m always going to be your friend” Brandon said making Kylee smile
“Thank you.”
