The sun began to pour from the sky

Ruining what was once a perfect day
So Harry and Suzie ran inside muttering
“If the sun would wish to come out again It may”

They looked outside
Only to find heavier rain
Along with some fog
Suzie proclaimed “Why did the rain come? Why?”
Her voice covered in pain
Just as the grass outside became sog

With nothing to do, and without any clue
Harry and Suzie sat alone and bored
All of a sudden came a thump,
Followed by a bump
The noises came from the door

Scared of what might be
Harry ran behind the couch, along with Suzie
What entered, was furry
With its long snout, and floppy ears
It seemed in no hurry

What they saw was something marvelous
To meet this thing would be courageous
Suzie asked Harry “Will this thing eat us?”
Harry replied “Shhh, don’t make a fuss”

They looked over to find a Dog
Walking on two feet
The dog asked,
“Did the weatherman say we would have fog?”
This is not the person
Harry and Suzie thought they would meet

Shocked from what had just occurred
The children ran to their parents’ bed
They heard of the story of the walking cat the purred
But the story of the dog the shed?

Up the steps, click click click,
Were the dog’s paws
Breathing excitedly, pant pant pant,
Was their really any commotion he caused?

Suddenly, right in a flashed
the dog lifted up the sheets
The children screamed
They also cried
But then, the dog spoke without skipping a beat

“It’s okay guys, I’m not here to hurt you,”
“It’s raining outside, and I don’t belong in a zoo”

Harry and Suzie looked at each other
And then at the dog
There was no reason to be scared
He just wanted out of the fog

The look at snout and tail
His hair was a frilly
When he spoke, he sounded funny
He was actually really silly

The dog babbled “We could throw a ball,”
“We could run down the hall”
“We could try a different type of food”
“Something exciting, wonderful, and new!”

“Ok,” Harry replied
“But don’t make a mess”
The dog replied “To be a good boy”
Harry and Suzie nodded yes
“This shall be the ultimate test!”

Out of nowhere,
There were footsteps at the door
“Kids! We’re home!”
Mom and Dad came back from their chores

“Oh no!” cried Suzie
“What are we to do?”
The dog whined “Don’t let them take me to the pound!”
“I got it!” exclaimed Harry
“Get under the covers again”
They crawled underneath “And don’t make a sound

The heard the footsteps
each one getting closer
The dog held on the Harry and Suzie
His nose felt wet, far too cold, sir

With loud steps,
hearing each step with both feet
They felt the covers get grabbed
And their mom lifted the sheets

“What is this?” roared the shocked mom
“The dog’s wet! And in the bed!”
The dad added in,
“You know this is the time when he sheds”

Harry looked over at the dog
Normal in size
Not walking on its hind legs!
What a surprise!

Harry and Suzie looked at each other
Then they started to smile
They used their imagination
Not like that in a while

The parents picked up the children
And asked them about their day
They walked downstairs
They looked outside
And saw there was no rain

So Harry and Suzie
went outside to play
Along with their dog

And though the day wasn’t perfect
They had the most fun they could
On a day that had too much fog
