One Day At a Time

April 8, 2008
By Carly Norris, Broomfield, CO

One day at a time
We can make it work
Through the tears
The hard times
Through the dark places where our troubles lurk

One minute of the day
One word we might say
Can break the skin
Or color our lives
Making things perfect, or piercing hearts with knives

One second of an hour
The sweet
The sour
The taste leaving your lips
The taste burning your lips
The words forming a lunar eclipse, blocking your emotion

One moment
One chance
Grab the hand
Or let go
This moment decides what we'll be and where we'll go
