Why do we dream? Well, because we dream about the things we want. Some may dream about being a firefighter, a doctor, or any other occupation, but it doesn’t have to be a job. Sometimes, we dream about weird stuff that doesn't connect, or a story that’s loose and unorganized. It’s just our odd imagination, but we can bring some of those dreams to life, like how cartoons are made. To make sure those dreams are able to exist, there are occupations that make those dreams possible, animators, music writers, and video editors. My dream job is to become a video editor, and I want to help make these dreams happen.

Having video editors is important because they are able to help with the producers to create what they envision for the film. The films can not only be movies, but advertisements, music videos, and more. IPR College of Creative Arts says, “A video editor can also work on a multitude of projects in addition to film. These projects may include commercials, corporate training videos, music videos, television programs, and social media content.” What IPR College is saying is that video editors are able to be flexible with what they work on and that can be anything from advertisements to full movies.

Becoming a video editor is also important to me because it helps visualize and tells a story that the filmmakers are passionate about. If I’m able to help creative minds shape their projects and satisfy the audience, that’s more than what I would want in life. According to Grand Canyon University, they said “Humans have told stories since the first cave dwellers painted animal figures on walls. Stories are how we connect with others, share our hopes and dreams, explore the world around us and try to make sense of daily life.” The Grand Canyon University is saying that stories are an important aspect of our lives and we are able to connect with each other with the dreams we have.

What I will need to do to become a video editor is to be able to communicate with the filmmakers to make sure I’m following how they want it to be and to be able to look out for small details. Grand Canyon University states, “Beyond storytelling, a video editor can benefit from having the following skills and characteristics, Communication skills: Video editors must be able to work collaboratively with other professionals, including other members of the production team. Attention to detail: A video editor must scrutinize every detail on every frame of footage.” What Grand Canyon University is saying is that in order to become a video editor you need to be able to communicate with the filmmakers to make what they see in their mind and to scope out the small details that others would most likely not notice.

From what I said before, my dream is to become a video editor and I want to help create advertisements for the consumers and movies for the audience. With how technology has been for the past decade, it’s important to use media in a way that can help sell products or inspire people to do what they wish to do. That is my dream of becoming a video editor.

I wrote this to prepare myself for the future when I'm actually writing an essay to get into a college.
