I originally sought to make this image highlight all of the major characteristics of the Impressionism movement, but I soon realized that the image would greatly improve with a direct focus on the qualities of light rather than popping colors. A single light was hung above my model in a completely dark shower to both highlight the face and leave distinct features unrecognizable. By doing this the image gains a sense of loneliness and detachment, but also a loss of connection with the viewers who cannot fully perceive any direct likeness with themselves.
