Tropidacris Cristata

This is a nymph of Tropidacris cristata (Romaleidae), the largest grasshopper in Central America. The adults lose the beautiful, striped pattern, but gain huge, red wings. I took this in Manuel Antonio National Park, Costa Rica.

I can't quite gage the size on this feller, but he looks rather large! Great photo!
