In the eyes of a person on his/her deathbed can be seen a transitional phase, for this past inhabitant of middle earth is engulfed by hellfire, and seems to be confronted with a door of light obstructing the pupil. Heaven and Hell grapple with a potential candidate, all upon the surface of an eye.
