This is an example of a marriage between the antiquity of children's illustration (a dying art) and modern, movement-filled animation, which has become the norm in illustration's stead. Nothing epitomizes a child's journey in the fantasy worlds represented by both of these mediums better than: a boy, his dog, and a monster (whether it be metaphorical or in this case, not) trying to eat them both.
