Over the summer I visited the place I grew up and saw all my old friends who are honestly now honorary members of my family. I was introduced to one of my friend’s daughter as her sister and this made me realize how intertwined my life is with all these people. This inspired my to create “The Tree of Life”. It is a canvas with a tree on it and certain branches of the tree spell out Johan which is the name of my friend. The negative space of the canvas is cut out and there is another canvas glued to the back that is completely black. I did this to convey the depth of life.
