I read this short story in freshman year of high school.  This is just what I imagined with Doodle leaning down like that and the tall grass towering over him.  Great imagery; this should be an illustration for the short story in a literary textbook.

Amazingly mermerizing in a simple drawing that's not so simple. The detail of the hair is amazing, and even though you can't see the eyes, you can tell how much detail would've been put into them based on the rest of the drawing. Bravo.
