BYU Musicians’ Institute and BYU Choral and Vocal Institute
BYU Musicians’ Institute and BYU Choral and Vocal Institute are for elite musicians ages 14–18 who want to improve their musicianship through a highly focused and rewarding chamber music, masterclass, and private instruction experience with members of BYU’s acclaimed School of Music faculty.
These new programs require an audition prior to acceptance into each program. Space is limited, so submit your audition as soon as possible. The application and recorded audition deadline for both is March 13, 2023.
Musicians’ Institute will focus on chamber music and solo literature for winds, brass, piano, and strings, as well as jazz combos and jazz improvisation. Choral and Vocal Institute will give participants the opportunity to spend 12 days with BYU choral and vocal faculty in choir rehearsals, staged opera scenes, private lessons as well as workshops in conducting, audition preparation, vocal literature, and careers in singing.
If you attend the Musicians’ Institute, we strongly encourage you to also participate in the weeklong BYU Musicians’ SummerFestival. You’ll have additional performance opportunities during SummerFestival, and those accepted into the Institute will receive a discounted price to participate in SummerFestival. We look forward to you joining us in this new era of greater music making!
