Am I any different?
Faking my smile
Hiding the pain,
Want to get away
from these peope proud and vain.
Everyone around
With all their cliche ways
Girls giggling, gossipping, flirting
and wasting all their days.
This place isn't for me
with all these plastic faces.
Back stabbers and fake friends,
I'm sick of all their cases!
BUT AM I ANY DIFFERENT?
I stare into the mirror,
who is this I see?!
This person looking like a fake doll
Definitely cannot be me!
Mini skirt, Paired with heels I can't walk in
My face full of make-up
Everything about me looks made up...
I'd rather sit at home and read,
but then I won't be considered "cool",
So I put on the mask like everyday
And act like rest of the fools.

This is entirely what I've felt through my years of high school. I'm sure all of us, at some point, felt the need to fit in, to be one of the crowd, to belong. What I didn't realize at that moment was that fitting in is stupid. At that stage of my life, there was no one to remind me how absurd it is to forget your uniqueness and do what everyone else is doing. Through this poem, I just want to remind everyone who has no one to remind them "You are beautiful and you are unique. Don't let anything or anyone force that away" :)
