Close your eyes

And think about the world
What is the first thing you see when
I say school?
For me
Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School
14 wounded
17 dead
14 students and 3 teachers
All who had lives
Lives that included
Family
Sports
Love
Potential
Many people are concerned
But not many will help
Turn a blind eye
It doesn’t involve
You
But it could
What if it was you
Your child
Your school
Your life
That will never be the same
Maybe this time
Your life was spared
But in your place
Went 17 others
Maybe it wasn’t you this time
But what’s to say that
Next time it is
We worry about a
“Next time”
And we shouldn’t have to
But 17 others weren’t worried
And now they never will
Maybe it wasn’t you this time
But 17 others took your place

@AnjaReed Thank you so much! I know it is quite a few days after the event, but I just couldn't figure out how to put the words, you know?

Beautiful. I couldn't agree more. This is a tragedy that affects us all, and we must all work to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
