Had I Most a Star's Cheer
Had I most a star's cheer by the ground,
With richest Spring, and hills fro bound.
But in the happiness dwell less a prayer,
Not ever could I have softest felt on lands,
River, cloud for dear is me in saddest sands.
I now go where the grief dearly stand,
Though the boldest Heaven be sure of me,
By the teary streams and glowing free.
Well I many the brightest crying of sky,
And the greenest shadings all I there shy.
