i hope they don’t rob me of me
i see it
headlines pumped out like
rolls of film
rolled-up prayers thrown into
the well of ashes
of what was pride
i can’t cover my eyes with a trembling hand
where will this take us
where will they take us
i see it all too well
and i don’t know far more
