I lay in my cage thinking of the wonderful adventures the world has to offer.
I lay wondering how others got the courage to fly and see this world.
I lay knowing that I can only go down.
There is no sky for me to see.
I lay hoping that one day I get the strength to fly so high I could no longer see the ground.
I lay in my nest surrounded by the what if’s and should have’s.
I try to scream and bang, but know one hears, and I go back to laying down and wondering.
I lie and tell stories of greatness and triumphs.
I cry knowing that the others get to fly and I'm here with
broken wings.
SOMEONE HELP is all I can think, but never say.
I lay like glue on a paper staring up at the glowing stars.
Stars of tranquility.
Tonight's stars are different. They speak to me. They say to wait and be patient.
I listen.
Someday I will fly. I will fly so high and so far. I will come back down and help others who have broken wings.
I won't let others feel caged like I.
For now I will rest.
I will lay and dream about my awaited adventures.
I will dream about the opportunities I will have.
I will lay and think of the others and how I will break their cage.
I will get my wings strong and
I will no longer be caged.
