A Beautiful City
I’ve built us city from the lies you’ve told me,
The broken promises you’ve made me,
And the life you tried to take away from me.
It’s a beautiful city, full of long and winding roads
And buildings filled with words that I left unsaid.
There’s a river, a beautiful river,
Made up from my tears that have fallen over the years.
And the wind…
Oh, this haunting wind is made from my darkest secrets
That you forced out of me with your threats and brutality.
And the last thing, the ground…
Yes, the ground is beautiful,
Because six feet under you is me.
I am that beautiful thing that makes this city grow and grow.
My muffled screams are unheard by you, but this city that I’ve built
Upon your hatred and betrayal hears me.
Oh, yes, it hears me.
And it builds and builds and builds until I’m broken enough
To destroy this beautiful city I’ve built for us.
