Shattered

I try my best to stay strong,
but theres only so much a band aid can do
and glue only helps for a little while
before I crumble back to nothing and sweep my shattered pieces up into the dust pan
someday, when I finally do put all my ragged pieces back together
the cracks will still be seen
a reminder of the days when band-aids were not used on scraped knees,
but instead on bleeding hearts and aching souls
and a reminder of the days when I poured glue into my veins
hoping that it’d hold me together on the inside
