Tracing the pavement and
waiting for some bones to heal, you
watch crows count the dust
of another missing meal
and the sand, twenty minutes past
your curfew.
The timer doesn’t ring
when no one is there to answer
but the dripping clocks and slipping numbers
aren’t on your homework anymore.
There is a new coat of wallpaper
done by boys from the laundry shop
and nothing looks the same from the corner of your eye.
