Favorite Quote:
And it has been one hell of a year. I have worn the seasons under my sleeves, on my thighs, running down my cheeks. This is what surviving looks like my dear.

Bruised knees and tear stained cheeks,
From falling too hard, and then leaving for weeks.
I don't think love is a definable thing,
It's not being a queen and a king.

The lucky ones of us aren't yet cold,
Your love for each other hasn't ran old.
Maybe someday it'll all make sense,
When your lover hasn't called back and your feeling are all too dense.

And one day you'll hear a story once told,
Remembering how that love once had you sold.

Their curiosity for you has now ran old.

Remember little girl, not all that glitters is gold.

The author's comments:
The piece was inspired by the quote "Not all that glitters is gold." I started to think about all the possible situations in which deceit is used, as in a relationship. I wrote about how a first relationship might play out. The sudden realization that love isn't all that you expected.
