Look up at the sky,
See the pure blue,
See the fluffy white,
See the beaming sun.
You feel as if you could rise up into the air,
Sit upon those fluffy clouds,
Soak up the suns rays.
But on your way to the top there is glass.
Glass that prevents you from rising,
And taunts you with the beauty from above.
Glass that traps you on the ground,
Forcing you to surround yourself with everything you want so desperately to escape.

Look out the window of your three story apartment building.
See the people walking,
See the people laughing,
See the people living.
The only thing that’s keeping you away is the glass window.
Trapping you inside the confinement of your room,
Killing you with the loneliness,
And the longing to be laughing with the others.
The best you can do is sit at your glass window,
Close your drooping eyes,
And dream yourself into a better place.

Look down at the ground.
See the dusty wooden floor,
See the dirty rug,
See the glass that came crashing down on you,
Shattered at your feet.
The shards of glass are like a maze around you.
One wrong step could put you into even more pain than you’re already in.
Why even step at all?

Look in your mirror.
See your bloodshot eyes,
See your tear-stained cheeks.
See yourself kicking and screaming,
Desperate to get away from the glass.
See yourself trying to break through the barriers.

Look within your heart.
See the brokeness,
See the pain,
See your fragile heart of shattered glass.
