Ashes

A smoky film blankets the ground.
Weeps and bellows hang in the air.
Valuables dragged out of the debris.
Mothers caressing their children’s faces,
As they stare back with frightened eyes.
Soot,
Washed away with every tear,
Leaving a stream of flesh exposed.
The crackle of flames,
Taunting the people below,
More powerful than man.
They climb the structure,
The flames,
Burning away treasured memories.
The earth quakes as the home crumbles to the ground.
The heat,
The stinging of tears,
Painful as life vanishes from the rubble.
Only left,
Whispering embers and a plot of charred land.
Home,
Transformed into time lost.
The cries and broken hearts,
Covered by the sound,
Of falling ashes.

Wow! Great poem! I love how you put so much emotion into this and the imagery makes me feel like I'm really there watching this scene. I love this<3

I like this poem! It really applies to all of the things happening today, and I really feel the heart behind it.
