Burning Bush

a winter-struck bush for his
foreground to
complete the picture
withered and dry
a lifeless centerpiece to
compliment the silhouettes
jagged and harsh iron straw
suppressed by ashes
the spreading death of darkness
the dogs smell death and
tremble, heads low, eyes
straight ahead to avoid demise
oh burnt out bush, extinguished
life, your message clear:
no living soul shall flourish here
