"I love you."

Simple as that.

Or not that simple.

To you,
I sing.
For you,
I love.

Sunlight spreads affection across my face.
Wonder, and faith, and sleeves of lace.
While childish ideas of love linger,
His hand brushes my calloused fingers.
“Sorry.” He says and stumbles away
Leaving me alone under golden rays.
Of course, I’ve been alone all of my life.
Although, friendship has always been rife,
I’ve never been serenaded on a summer night.
I’ve never been told “You know, you’re alright.”
It doesn’t hurt, but it leaves me lonesome.
And when I see you, I remember that it’s just damned Freedom.

“Hey, wait!”

“Yeah?”

“You hungry?”

It’s a long walk,
So, Let’s just talk.
Maybe by the end of the night,
You’ll say
“You know, you’re alright.”
I’ll whisper “Okay.”

With you,
I fall.
