He walks me up
To my doorstep
Hand in hand.
We stare
At each other
And smile (which
Can’t seem to erase
From our faces)
He cups the side
Of my face and I feel
His gentle caress
On my skin
He presses his mouth
To mine
Kindling a fire
Deep in my stomach
His kiss
So sweet and familiar
Like a favorite
Childhood dish,
Heavy with happy
Memories
Tonight I’m left
With this wonderful,
Goodnight kiss.
