You, of Whom I Never Met

You.
You, this cloud of reason
Although I have never met you, I feel you running through my warm veins
More native to me than the crimson liquid that resides there
The path that so boldly and gracefully left your shoes is in my view now,
and it devours space in my mind that has seemed sadly
Empty
Until now.

You.
Your followers weep at your passing
Your children
The faith you created is so obvious to me, something I understand
more than lessons from school
From books
From parents
I look into the future with a smile, not just on my face but on my fingers
The fingers that also feel the presence of you
Your fingers, thick pads of creation, familiar with metal strings of the
handsome cello that belonged to you

Although this following is new,
it has kindled something bigger than me
Something I am so grateful for, and something I will
cherish, I am sure
I know
I know
