My bills were paid and I had the grade
That would guarantee my life
I shook and sighed and never lied
Except when it saved me strife
I loved and lost and stars were crossed
In a shape that was doom to see
I found my bliss and forgot to miss
There is nothing else for me
I know
There is nothing else for me
So though I try to fit in your heart
There’s not enough space to say
The stair’s been paved
And the cat’s been shaved
And I’ll pray that you’ll look my way

Books have been read and quotes have been said
Though none can melt through me
I desire a brain that won’t cause me pain
A rug to replace a key
The breath on my neck felt less than a speck
Of some unearthly stone
To be felt through a wall you have built to fall
I would rather be alone
I know
I would rather be alone
So though I’ve given pieces of myself
To those who had swore to pay
I’d make a whole world
And I’d get my soul curled
If only you’d look my way

With a killing machine level with my spleen
And the wind flirting through my hair
I travel the road struggling with my load
Mostly stuffed and filled with care
And I can see the meat that grows out my feet
While my head tries not to crack
A golden beam points like a dream
That tree wants to hug me back
I know
That tree wants to hug me back
So though my casket can’t be your eyes
With your smile my grave won’t play
I’ll drown in mud
And I’ll spill my blood
And maybe you’ll look my way.
