Summary:
Clara is a teenage girl who is living in Gettysburg during the time of the American Civil War. As the war gets closer and closer to her town, her family's lives begin to fall apart. Her father is drafted into the war, and their neighbors begin to leave town. One day, Clara finds a slave hiding out in the woods behind her house. Little does she know how much this would change her life.
