I plan to go to Israel for the upcoming semester for an undergraduate and maybe graduate degree. Any thoughts? I'm sure others are studying abroad as well- share your experiences. (I'm American for the record)

I'll be going to Germany as part of an exchange. Best tips so far?
- Learn as much of the language as you can.
- Learn the culture so that you don't accidently offend anyone.
- Learn where the U.S. Embassy is and put their phone number in your contacts.
- Carry a copy of your passport with you; never carry your actual passport with you. Keep that in a safe.
- Invest in toothpaste tablets, some sort of pickpocket-proof bag (or the clips to keep them from unzipping it), and other travel gear.
- If the area you are going to has any safety concerns, then maybe some basic first aid.
- Learn how to order in a restaurant, buy things, and call for medical emergency.
- Look at the local life and go do some fun stuff.
