So, I thought it'd be a good idea to have a nice, positive thread where we talk about all the wonderful things in life. :) What are some of the things that make life beautiful and wonderful, even on the rainiest day? What is it that makes life worth living?

The things that make life worth living? Well, my friends would be on there. My family. I am happy to have these people in my life.

Friendship, laughter, and potatoes. :)

Also, it makes me feel warm and fuzzy when I make someone smile.

Being with friends, seeing them smile.

Meeting new people—especially realizing that you've made a new friend.

That freshly-baked chocolate chip cookie smell wafting in from the kitchen...

Night skies, and the lucid scent of darkness just before dawn.

Once, during my veterninary science class, we were taking a tour of the school farm, and ended up going by the river that runs through out town. My friends didn't want to go in, but I took off my shoes and rolled up my jeans and waded in the wtaer with some of the other girls I don't talk to. We all got our hair wet on the count of three. At the time, I had been reading about Saint Francis and I wanted to go to the river by myself and try to appreciate nature the way he did. I had thought it all out, how I would come in my swimsuit and go underwater and be there all by myslef. But I wasn't allowed to do that, so I had planned it perfectly for when I was older. We hadn't planned to go to the river that day. I couldn't go all the way underwater and there were all sorts of other people. But I realized that this was the sort of thing Saint Francis really would have done. The things that make life worth living don't go the way you plan them and oftentimes aren't planned at all. Before this, I had always told myself that life would be worth living because it would be great in the future. But now I know that it is worth living because of the things that happen RIGHT NOW without any planning, and are gone right after. Wading in the river didn't make the rest of my day any better, but in that moment, it was what made life worth living. The best things are the things that happen right now.
