I recently got into Western Culture, as in the Old American West although modern is also cool! Anyone else into those really neat boots and hats, a life mounted high on a horse?

Haha, well, though other riders may see it differently, as someone who rides in the English style, the Western style actually seems more glamorous and...ideal? I'm not sure how to describe it. I love the way Western saddles and gear (like those high boots you've mentioned) are crafted, it just all seems so elegantly rustic and authentic to our American culture. I actually don't know too much about the Old West... Just basic things that came out of a textbook. If you have any cool stories or info you want to share about it, I'd love to hear it!

It happens to be that I have a friend that is very into military history, and don't get me wrong- I'm into both the military and history but not military history perse. Regardless, what I've noticed lately is that I'm very into law enforcement history (I'm not sure if that's a thing but it is now). I enjoy reading/watching old westerns with awesome gunfights and pursuits between sheriffs/marshals and the outlaws that gave the Wild West it's name. I just learnt about the Pinkerton Detective Angency as well as Jesse James, Butch Cassidy, and the Reno brothers. Good stuff mate, if your into that stuff!

Not really an Old West person, but 100% an equestrian. I own my own barrel racing horse to compete with who I re-trained myself after his owners gave him to me for free when he injured himself before a big show he was supposed to go to. Although I focus solely on barrel racing now, I've ridden all different types of horses, from jumpers to cowhorses to saddleseat (the really high-steppers) and everything in between. I must say, though, I'd have loved to go on the cattle drives back in the old days.
