What do you think of Christianity?

@stunt and @M501athletic,
I am a Christian, very strongly. The Bible never says you CAN'T be lukewarm, it just says you shouldn't. What is actually says is it's better to just spurn faith (cold) than be lukewarm and not 100% serious about it (hot).

Wouldn't it be better, by Christian standards, to be Christian, even if you were a sort of lax one? It doesn't really make sense that it'd be better if people weren't one at all than just a mild one.

It's really a question of commitment. Ideally a Christian would actively work for God somehow; the goal isn't just to get to heaven, it's also to have Him say "well done." That's the difference: missed opportunity coming from being lukewarm. If you don't value God's commendation, that's a totally different problem.

I'm not sure if I understand what you all mean by saying "I do/do not support" Christianity. Evidently, you are not asking if we believe in this religion. But, support? It's like asking if I support Buddhism, or Islam, or even Wicca. So, do I think that Christianity rightfully exists and deserves to have a place in this world? Yes. I suppose I do "support" it, just as I do every other religion, it seems.

I'm 75% for Christianity. While I see a lot of things that are wrong with the religion, I bet most of those problems apply to a lot of other religions as well, and I think that most of the bad rap it gets comes from people who use Christianity to manipulate people to their will, even if they themselves do or don't believe in it.

And to be honest, I am firmly atheist but I've grown up in a Roman Catholic family that isn't extremely pious, and I've seen that Christianity and religion in a nutshell is a beautiful thing because it might offer hope to someone who may experience a horrible experience. In general I say that Christianity is something that should (like other religions) continue to exist as long as most of the adherents don't suddenly go all Fundamentalist on the rest of the world.

Of course, if anyone started shoving their beliefs down someone else's throat, then I wouldn't be so for their faith. No one would. But that's their choice, their problem. Christianity is a religion centered around compassion, forgiveness, and justice. So when you say, "I support Christianity," you support  it's philosophy, not its followers, or what its followers do in order to practice it. Even if the adherents did start "going all Fundamentalist," I would still support Christianity. Not its followers, not what it's interpreted as, but the literal religion by itself.

I like to choose a quote by Ghandi- "I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. They are so unlike your Christ."

I mainly go by that quote through what I have seen most of the Christian community. However, I know for sure that there are very good Christians that don't shove the bible down people's throats or kill g@y people "in the name of God". I like the good Christians, but the rest are either horrid or annoying.

I transferred into Atheism several years ago. For me, there was just too many things proven wrong about Christianity and things never truly added up in the end. I also don't agree with many things in the bible and many of the stories it tells is nothing more than exaggeration.

i'm an atheist (agnostic), but i'm not against christianity. i actually came from a christian family. i have nothing against christians or christianity itself.
something that i really do not like that some of them do is try to force their beliefs onto someone. like, no. that's just not cool.

I am a Catholic and fully support Christianity. Christians, on the other hand, are not always true followers of Christ. One of the things that makes me saddest is when a Christian person spreads hate and not only gives the Church a bad name, but goes against everything Jesus taught. Too many people today think Christianity is about judgement, when Christians need to show that it is about LOVE!

I am a Christian. My personal opinion on the religion is that bad apples have spoiled the concept of God for many. God is not about money, power or control, God is about loving one another and doing everything on this earth to glorify Him. I believe that the ceremony of religion can somethimes get in the way of what religion is supposed to mean, and that goes for a lot of religions, not just Christianity. I personally belive in God because I belive that without a higher power coming into play, some of the things that have happened in my life would not have happened. My family is going through a really tough time lately, my mom is in college and single parenting me and my siblings, and my parents are separated on the verge of divorce. there is a member of my family that struggles with mental health issues, and several of my siblings have Autism. Our church has rallied around us and supported us, lifting us up in their prayers. People we don't even know are rallying to help us, and I think that's what Christianity is supposed to be like: Lifting up others who need support, praising God through your trials and the good times alike, and doing your best to glorify God on earth as the angels do in Heaven. I think that the act of following God is often lost in the maelstrom of hatred that spews forth from some 'Christians'.

I cant think of anything the Bible is wrong about. Me, myself, I believe that the Bible, both New and Old testament, should be followed whole-heartedly. I disagree with some of the teachings of the Church as it has become corrupt.
