Autumn Falls on Prentiss Road
During my walk home from school, on a fall afternoon, I looked in front of me and saw a beautiful scenery. I took a picture of it. Later in the year, my class started studying the 'Group of Seven'. My art teacher gave us an assignment with two options: to re-create a 'Group of Seven' piece with different colours and tones. The second option was to take a photograph, simplify it, and colour it in. While trying to figure out what I wanted to do, I remembered the picture I took early in autumn, and decided it was the perfect picture. I used the same process as option number two. I simplified the details in the picture and used oil pastel to colour. While colouring the picture, I used bold and vibrant colours. I mostly used warmer colours and lots of grey and black. The bright orange leaves contrasted with the grey pavement. It made the orange pop! In the end, I had fun creating 'Autumn Falls on Prentiss Road".
