Information about World Horizons International

Our reputation is for meaningful, safe trips, and satisfied teens doing community service. Established in 1987 by a former Peace Corps administrator, WHI has served students for 25 years. World Horizons’ travelers come from many countries, representing diverse ethnic, religious and socioeconomic backgrounds. Our reputation is for meaningful, safe trips, and satisfied teens doing community service, since 1987!

With locations in Ecuador, Fiji, Iceland, Italy, England and domestic locations, WHI has been successful in establishing local contacts in our foreign locations allowing our participants to blend cultural immersion with hands on volunteer work for a rich and rewarding experience. WHI participants become part of the community rather than tourists.

World Horizons’ trips demonstrate how each individual can improve relationships around the globe by reaching across barriers of culture, language and geography to make the world a better place. While volunteering and doing community service, participants become close to the host community and enjoy an experience that most tourists will never know. They will also have plenty of time for adventure and to explore their surroundings. The service component of a WHI program is about 60-70% of the experience. All summer programs include sightseeing in local cities, places of historic and geographic interest as well as indigenous markets and cultural events.

Reach new levels of understanding visiting communities around the globe while participating in a community service project. WHI participants discover themselves while volunteering internationally or domestically, running day camps for children; caring for mistreated animals; working with seniors; building and painting; working on environmental projects and assisting organizations that help handicapped individuals and much more. Join participants from across the country and around the globe for an extraordinary, rewarding summer experience that will change your life. Every participant in a World Horizons program, no matter what their background, has something to contribute to help make this world a better place to live.

This summer make that choice to volunteer and make a difference!

World Horizons invites schools and educators interested in a one or two week trip during the school year to contact us about a custom trip for your group.
