Information about Young Actors Camp Hollywood

Young Actors Camp programs are fun for all in attendance and the benefit of being in the heart of Los Angeles – at the epicenter of the entertainment industry – creates an atmosphere of excitement and possibility that is contagious and helps fuel our students' enthusiasm for developing their skills as actors and actresses.

Our goal is to provide a ‘complete’ program to build a strong film actor. If your goal is to audition for a Disney series or be apart of your favorite teen drama, we can help light a path of knowledge that gets you going. There is a parent program too. Parents learn how to be supportive through helpful resources and tools needed for a child/teen actor to be safe and successful.

Participants seeking a theater or drama camp may find Young Actors Camp to be a pleasant alternative. Usually theater can be studied in local community forums. Rarely do you find a film and television program for teens that is as intensive and offers so much in a short amount of time. And if you think our support ends after camp is over, think again. Our staff is at your side for years to come!

Q & A with Young Actors Camp Hollywood

Q: What makes your camp or program unique?

A: Young Actors Camp is by no means a traditional drama or theater camp. The Hollywood film and television industry is our camp ground as we explore several aspects of acting for film, on our own sets as well through amazing field trips.

Q: Describe a typical day in your camp or program.

A: There is no typical day but every week has a theme. If we are studying television over the course of five days, the days are broken up to complete classes during the first part of the week. We end the week with a sitcom. Evenings are quite busy too. It may occasionally be a fun night but our intensive workshops with Casting Directors or Guest Teachers allow our young actors to focus on a topic and apply their upcoming performances.

Q: What type of teenager participates in your camp and where are they from?

A: As one of the most popular summer acting film program for teens, our participants are passionate and inquisitive new and veteran actors. They travel to us from all over the world. Truly, all countries have been represented and it is a fun treat to hear so many accents in each class.

Q: What is the housing like and what can you tell us about the meals?

A: Our actors reside in beautiful dorms. We are housed on the University of LaVerne campus, 20 minutes outside of Los Angeles. There are usually two to a room but occasionally we have a larger room and a configuration for three.

Q: What is the staff to camper ratio?

A: Because we are so often traveling, we feel it necessary to have more staff than is suggested by the American Camp Association. Consequently, our standard is to have one staff member for every six campers.

Q: Do you offer financial aid?

A: This is the MOST commonly asked question we get. Please visit our website and view our financial aid page for our most current programs and suggestions.

I sent my child here 2 years. She liked the fact that they discussed every single thing including make up and props. She was in acting heaven! She met a lot of friends. She is now in an Acting School but the Youth Actor's Camp has surely helped her cement her desire. I was also helped when I attended the parents support conference, it made me see all aspects of allowing my child to pursue acting such as taxes and casting agents. Only praises for Young Actor's Camp! Plus her counselor kept in to... (more »)

Is this the Young Actors Camp in La Verne? I would like to leave a wonderful feedback about our three-week intensive program in YAC last summer - definitely a must for teens who are into acting in film and theater :)
