The Musiker Family has directed award-winning, well-supervised, educational teen summer programs for students for 51 years. Although we offer a wide variety of quality programs around the world, we are still a family-owned and operated organization, featuring the most experienced and talented leadership in the pre-college field.

Discovery programs introduce you to the college experience in an environment that is intellectually stimulating, culturally and socially enriching, and fun. Choose from over 300 Courses (with really great teachers) at 14 different locations, plus internships in 3 exciting cities. At Discovery programs, you are treated with the respect you deserve - increasing self-esteem, confidence, and independence.
Most classes are small and feature interactive, experiential learning. Choose from a variety of enrichment and/or college credit classes on each campus, designed to expand your horizons and sharpen your skills. We also offer Cultural Immersion in England; and Jr Discovery; a more structured program for middle school students.
·Freedom with support & balance
Choose how to occupy your time after class, choosing from up to 5 daily after-class and evening activities. Discovery staff teaches time management skills and provide support, so you can evaluate options and make positive decisions. An important element to college (and high school) success is the ability to balance the academic, cultural, recreational, and social aspects of campus life. We help you succeed.
·Beyond the classroom
Your tuition includes more than just classes, room, and board. Extracurricular activities and trips are provided every day, evening, and weekend at no additional charge. All Discovery campuses are superbly located near world-class cultural, entertainment, and recreational attractions.
·World-class sports & recreation
All campuses feature some of the world’s best facilities for practice, tournaments, and pick-up play. If you wish to extend your participation, choose one of our Sports Plus offerings (not available at all campuses). These athletic instructional courses are optional and are taught by college instructors, professionals, and area specialists.
B. Describe a typical day in your camp or program.
What is a typical weekday like?
With the diversity of our programs, courses, activities, and recreation across our campuses, every day at Summer Discovery is unique, but here is a preview of what you can expect on campus:
8.30am Roll out of bed and head to the dining hall where you can enjoy a bagel, eggs, fruit, and more on your way to class.
9.30am Grab your notebook and pen (or your laptop) and don’t be late for class.
11.30am What’s one great thing about college? Long lunch breaks. Enjoy a leisurely lunch with friends; catch up on homework, or workout at the gym.
1.00pm Back to class, but not always in the classroom. Many classes take field trips around town to enhance your learning experience.
3.00pm Your summer, your way. Sign up for the activities you want to do. Choose from sports, shopping, museums, beaches, and more.
6.00pm Dinner time. Enjoy the unlimited portions at the dining hall. We really like the dessert bar.
8.00pm Movies. Comedy shows. Concerts. Major league sports. You will never forget the memories you make with your friends at Summer Discovery.
11.00pm Order a pizza, watch a movie, or video games in the lounge. After a full day, it’s nice to relax with friends.
C. What type of teenager participates in your camp or program?
·Summer Discovery programs are for high school students completing 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade.
·Discovery Internship programs are for high school students completing 10th, 11th and 12th grade.
·Jr. Discovery Programs are for middle school students completing 6th, 7th and 8th grade.

Summer Discovery students attended last summer from 45 U.S. states and over 80 countries.
E. What is the housing like and what can you tell us about the meals?
Where will I live on campus?
·UCLA: You will live in the new Hedrick Summit Suites, located on the UCLA campus.
·UC Santa Barbara: You will live with in Santa Cruz Residence Hall overlooking the ocean, located on the UCSB campus.
·University of Colorado Boulder: You will live in the newly renovated Kittredge Complex with breathtaking views of the Rocky Mountains, located on the CU-Boulder campus.
· University of Texas at Austin: You will live in the brand new Callaway House, located one block from the UT Austin campus.
·University of Michigan: You will live in Mosher-Jordan Residence Hall, located in the hill section of the Michigan campus.
·Georgetown University: You will live in the refurbished Village C Residence Hall overlooking the Potomac River, located on the Georgetown campus.
·Pace University: You will live in the brand new 182 Broadway residence hall, on the border of Tribeca and the Financial District.
·Emerson College: You will live in Piano Row Residence Hall on Boston Common.
·Penn State University: You will live with Summer Discovery students in one residence hall on campus at Penn State. Residence hall assignments are subject to confirmation with PSU and will be updated closer to the summer.
·University of Pennsylvania: You will live in the iconic Quad Residence Hall, located on the Penn campus.
·Johns Hopkins University: You will live with other Johns Hopkins Pre-College Summer Program students in one residence hall. Residence hall assignments are subject to confirmation with Hopkins and will be updated closer to the summer.
·Cambridge University and London, England: In Cambridge, you will live in Pearl House Residence Hall at Murray Edwards College, one of the 31 colleges that make up Cambridge University. In London, you will live in the center of the city at the Travelodge Covent Garden.
·London, England: You will live at The Stay Club Camden, a modern student residence in the center of London.
Where will I eat on campus?
Students on most programs get to immerse in the college lifestyle by enjoying a variety of food options from their campuses state-of-the art dining facilities.

What will I do on the weekends?
Every weekend there's a ton of optional and scheduled activities, trips, and events. You will be informed of the options during the week by reading the daily bulletin and the activities board. An opportunity to create your individual schedule is offered, however, some activities are "all group" where the entire group is together.
·UCLA: There are trips to Disneyland, Universal Studios, Hurricane Harbor, concerts, baseball games, an optional weekend trip to San Diego, and much more.
·UC Santa Barbara: There are trips to Disneyland, Six Flags Magic Mountain, Universal Studios, Los Angeles Days, Carpenteria Beach, Hearst Castle, Pismo Beach Hummer Tours, shopping malls, baseball games, and other local outings.
·University of Colorado Boulder: There are trips to Elitch Gardens Theme & Water Park, Breckenridge or Vail Village, Rocky Mountain National Park, Estes Park, and much more.
·University of Texas at Austin: There are trips to San Antonio, Six Flags Fiesta Texas, Schlitterbahn Water Park, Zilker Park, and so much more.
·University of Michigan: There are trips to Cedar Point Amusement Park and Resort, The Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame, Shedd Aquarium and Oceanarium, Motown Records Studios, major league sporting events, movies, and other local outings.

·University of Pennsylvania: There are trips to the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, the Jersey Shore, Hersey Park Amusement Park, and ZooAmerica. There are also day trips to New York City and Washington, D.C.

How are roommates selected?
We’ve been matching up roommates with success for years! You will submit a Personal Profile that helps us learn about your likes and dislikes, personality traits, interests and sleeping habits. As most students come alone, we use this information to match you with a roommate(s) with similar interests and age. Attending with a friend(s)? All roommate requests must be noted on your Personal Profile. Mutual roommate requests are honored, if possible
