Every summer, 132 teen writers from across the country come together to share their work, practice craft, and improve their writing in Iowa City, Iowa, home of the University of Iowa. Find out just how much you can improve your writing with two weeks of intensive focus. Students may apply to one or both summer camp sessions but only attend one session if accepted. I've been to this camp, I'm an international young writer, and this experience was so useful. It's just as amazing as it promises. Besides, I found a great family there.

I would love to hear more specifics about your experience at the Iowa Young Writers Studio. 1. Did there seem to be a main focus on writing teqnique/instruction or on workshop/feedback or on prompts/assignments? Or did there seem to be a good balance between the three? 2. Do you have any tips for making a strong application? Is there any style/particular thing they are looking for in the writing sample? 1. Uhm, I'd say there was a neat balance struck between all of those categories: In the morning we'd all (the entire camp) listen in on a lecture about a writing technique/style, then we'd write a poem or prose piece according to a prompt based off the lesson. After that, we'd break up into smaller groups to attend a seminar with our teacher. I had an awesome teacher and about seven other people in my class. It was very intimate.
