The Road To Hell MAG

A very interesting album, to say the least. It is a bit muddled, however, with the messages of the song being somewhat contrary to the music itself. The album is very good, overall, however, blending the dark, moist voice of Chris Rea with his wailing guitar and a powerful, thrumming bass-line. The opening 2-song connection is a clear indication of the potential that Chris Rea has. The lyrics are interesting and quite iconoclastic, all things considered. The vocals on it and the guitar playing are so rich as to make one weep with happiness. In the age of "other bands" with heavy, arrogant guitar and drum sections and weak, watery vocals, Mr. Rea stands out. In all, the album is a very impressive start to someone who we should see a lot of in the future.
