Although lacking in suspense, “Cellular” is an entertaining story. Kim Basinger plays Jessica Martin, a mother who is kidnapped. She taps into the phoneline where she is held and calls a random number, which happens to be the cell phone of an irresponsible slacker named Ryan (Chris Evans), who proceeds to go on a mission to save her. Although predictable at times, the plot moves along with many amusing incidents, including Ryan’s quest for a cell phone charger.

Ryan’s honesty and innocence add to the humor of his interference in a world of crime while still trying to keep Jessica on the phone. The chaos Ryan creates on his journey and his mission to save a woman he’s never met adds a comical twist to this suspense thriller. Overall, this movie is an A-.
