Gary Paulsen’s book hatchet is a magnificent story. A young boy named Brian Robeson is trapped on an island because of a plane crash. His parents were divorced so he was on his way to his father’s house in Canada when the pilot had a heart-attack and lost complete control of the plane. Brian should have died in the crash but now he faces the challenge of surviving out in the wilderness. Brian learns some lessons like how he treats nature since before when he was a city boy. He has to provide himself with food, shelter, water and other various resources.

Brian Robeson has to survive on an island with little to no resources for many months. He escapes death multiple times. When his plane crashed, it landed in a deep lake. He barely has enough air to escape the deep lake. At one point he tries to get some of the planes supplies and he barely survives that. He has various encounters with different animals. He has to teach himself to hunt and gather found on this deserted island. He uses a small cave and the lake the plane crashed in his camp sight.

I found this book to be very interesting. I like the fact of survival in this book. Also, I like books that have this adventure feel to it. I do like this book very much. Also it is fiction and I like fiction.

All and all I like this book a lot. It is in my top favorites. As I sai8d I really like the feel to it. I advise you to read this book.
