The Weight of Silence by Heather Gudenkauf

Silence is a burden for sweet, seven year old Callie Clark but speaking is a burden too heavy to bear. Callie comes from an absent, angry father and her mother, Antonia, that’s just trying to do her best. Callie has chosen silence instead of words due to a tragedy as a toddler. So when Antonia wakes to find her daughter missing she fears that Callie’s voice may not be the only thing she loses, but Callie herself.

In Heather Gudenkauf’s The Weight of Silence two families wake up to find their daughters’ bed empty and their daughters nowhere to be found. When evidence makes it clear that Callie Clark and her best friend Petra were not innocently playing in the woods, speculations and rumors fly everywhere and fear that their daughters may never come home fills each family.

Suspense and mystery will grip the reader till the end with twists and turns that will leave you wondering, what is the weight of silence?
