Slavery

By , Martinsburg, WV

The whips cracking against skin

Slicing through like a hot knife through butter

Men screaming in the air

Echoing like thunder

The ones who dont work hang from trees

Swaying like leaves in the summer wind

Sweating all day in the hot sun

Without the comfort of a cold drink

Taken away from our families

Without a second glance or word

And beaten into our new life

Like a caged wild animal
