Danger of Isolation - A Sonnet

He lived inside a township by the sea,
At all he'd cast his eye, to all he'd run,
To all he’d call, a sign of love sought he,
Yet turn to glance at him at all would none.
His “charming” friends were always kind to him -
they talked with cheer, with laughter and a smile,
Yet he felt shunned, felt lonely, felt somewhat grim;
the smiles were fake; he was not worthwhile.
And so he stayed, in his house on the hill;
he’d cry and ponder why his life was so,
until one day he sadly lost his will
to live, and in the ocean did he go.
The villagers did not weep for his soul,
It was a shame they were cruel as a whole.
