Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened - Dr Seuss

Her eyes read beauty in between the lines
She has a smile that never goes away
Behind the contacts everything is fine
Her heart is pure as snow falls fresh each day
He looks on her from distances a far
She sits and reads on park benches with snow
Stopping behind the wheel of his new car
He smiles at her with familiar eyes she knows
Alas her prince she thought she lost for good
Had come back for her as he always said
Still then amidst the falling flakes he stood
She ran toward him wind flying round her head
She stopped just short and gazed into his eyes
She reached to touch him then saw the disguise

The author's comments:

We had an extra credit assignment in British Literature to write a sonnet, so of course I had to write one! I just started writting, and snow popped in to my head, and I ran with that. Most sonnet's are about love, and somehow mine was turning into that as well, but I didn't want it to be a completely happy sonnet. That's why there's the last line, which symbolizes the girl realizing the snow had clouded her vision, and her true love hadn't come back for her. The line "Behind the contacts everything is fine", is talking about contacts for your eyes. I wanted to add something there, and at first I added glasses, but I have contacts, so I liked the addition of that there, even though not everyone might understand what I meant at first.
