Come Back

Oh you caught my eye, orange and black bird
When you dove down from your nest so high
How my hands clammed up and my heart so stirred
Until you left without the slightest sigh
Graced by your beauty and struck by your wing
You flew out of nowhere into my sight
Dazzling appearance, the jewel of spring
But leaving so quickly in wind of flight
A fine morning mist that is gone by noon
The dew that is left from the night before
Oh magnificent bird, don’t leave so soon!
Oh ocean so vast, don’t end at the shore
Mountains be gone in a cent’ry or two
And deserts flooded with cerulean blue
