I remember the way you would walk through the halls,
With your tiny shoulders set back so neatly,
And your elegant hands turned into balls,
Looking like a princess, so completely.

Those eyes were what got me, so blank and cold,
Fixed on some point in the distance I couldn't find
It was those eyes that stayed the same when life grew old,
When the girl around them crumbled and grew blind.

Your eyes moved sometimes and your chest still rose and fell;
Your vision was intact and your heart beat unfettered.
But within your gaze there were layers of Hell,
That showed your heartbeat was more of a tether.

You are trapped in this world and in your life,
And your eyes hold the secret: why?
