Twenty times the years you have lived longer
as I gaze after you the yearling faun
But still my want has never burned stronger
As I am the hunter you are the swan
when first I saw you in my later youth
I was as the amatreur on the stage
I was stunned by beauties exspressed truth
and lit forth in my heart desires rage
now as I see you I can bare no more
to fierce is the temptation of your prime
not another hand will I compete for
nor will I halt till the rotting of time
for a moment without you as my wife
is a precious moment wasted in strife.

The more control you have over yourself, the less control others have over you.

Hey there! I don't believe I have seen you on the site before so it's nice to meet you! I was recently introduced to sonnets when I joined my advanced English class and we were reading some Shakespeare plays and I found myself really enraptured in the sonnets. I found their set-up to be really interesting and I enjoyed them so much. In the same class I realized how much I enjoyed poetry and began writing.. sadly, I have not been able to grab hold of the sonnet and write one myself as I find they are difficult. I thought this one was beautiful and I love your vocabulary all throughout this poem. I too love the way you ended this, it was really really good. The line, 'I am the hunter you are the swan' was one of my favorites. Great job!
