Killing the Self

Itching fingers twitch and pull the trigger
And men fall as naturally as rain
Their breaths pushed out, bodies set in rigor
I lay down these monsters and sow sweet pain
Two peoples run forwards, convictions clash
Pride and hatred blur ‘defend’ and ‘offend’
Actions go unquestioned; brazen and brash
Nameless beasts, not human, come to an end
With eternal guns we shoot all nightlong
For they oppose us, and that is our cause
We are the right and they are the worst wrong
I kill, keep killing, and I do not pause

‘Til I face a man whose face is my own

I shoot my eyes, nose, mouth and am alone

Well, the death of any human being is enough to bring on a flood of tears.
